Who it’s for

You are at the start of your career in markets. You don’t need a previous job in finance, but you already follow the US markets on your own, because you want to. You read about rates, credit, preferred stocks and bonds, and you have opinions about them.

You want to be taught properly, and you are ready to work full-time, on US market hours, for a year. If you are still studying, your timetable needs to leave weekdays from 14:00 free.

  • Risk first. You know that staying in the game comes from position sizing and discipline, not from hunting the next big win.
  • Honest about mistakes. When something goes wrong, you pull up the data, find out why and change what you do.
  • Curious and patient. Testing an idea, watching it fail, adjusting it and trying again sounds interesting to you, not tedious.
  • Clear English. You will write and speak to our brokers and counterparties in English every day.

What you’ll learn and do

Year 1 · Trading Intern

  • US fixed income from the desk’s side. Preferred stocks, baby bonds and other exchange-traded debt, Treasuries and corporate bonds, and what really moves their prices: rates, credit spreads, call dates, coupons and where a security sits in the capital structure.
  • Finding and tracking ideas. Screen for trades that fit the desk’s criteria, follow them from idea to execution and keep a log of how they play out.
  • Running the book. Help with live position monitoring, risk checks and preparing orders.
  • Working with the Street. Learn to deal with our international brokers, execution desks and clearing firms.
  • Working smarter. Use AI tools every day for research and summaries, and to write small scripts that automate repetitive work.

Year 2 · Junior Portfolio Assistant

  • A desk account to run. The desk gives you a trading account funded with its own capital. You trade your own ideas in it, within risk limits agreed with Filip. The capital and the risk are the desk’s: you never pay in and you never owe money.
  • A share of what you make. On top of your salary, you receive a bonus of 10% of that account’s net profit.

How you’ll be mentored

  • One-on-one with the portfolio manager. Filip trains you himself throughout the first year. There are no layers in between.
  • The reasoning, not just the trades. You see why each position is on, how it is sized and when it comes off.
  • Your ideas, reviewed. You keep an idea log and go through it with Filip regularly, so you always know where you stand.
  • Mistakes are part of the process. We treat trial and error as how you learn, as long as you learn from it.

Pay and benefits

Year 1 · Trading Intern

€1,750 net a month (about €2,255 gross, roughly €27,000 gross a year).

Year 2 · Junior Portfolio Assistant

€2,000 net a month (about €2,539 gross), plus a bonus of 10% of your trading account’s net profit.

The profit share is a bonus paid through payroll, before tax. It is measured over the calendar year, after commissions and fees, and paid each January. If a year ends with a loss, there is no profit share that year, and the account must first earn back that loss before the next profit share is paid. A loss is never your debt.

  • Private health insurance and a Multisport card from day one.
  • Monday to Friday, 14:00 to 23:00 Sofia time: eight working hours plus a one-hour break, following the US market session.

“Net” is what you receive after Bulgarian income tax and social insurance on a Bulgarian employment contract. If you live elsewhere in the EU, we agree the equivalent gross salary under your country’s payroll.

How to apply

Email [email protected] with the subject “Trading Internship” and send us two things. No cover letter.

  1. Your CV, in English.
  2. One trade idea you would put on today, as if it were your own money, and why. Name the exact instrument: the ticker, or for a preferred stock or bond, the specific issue. Tell us whether you are long or short, why the market has it wrong, and why now. Then where you would get in, how much you would risk, where you would admit you are wrong, and how you would take profit.

The idea can be in any US-listed market, but ideas in fixed income (preferreds, baby bonds, bonds or rates) tell us the most. Keep it to about a page; the body of the email is fine.

In the last line, tell us how you found this role. How we handle your application is explained on our privacy page.

Common questions

Do I need a finance degree?

No. Finance, economics, maths, engineering or computer science all work. What matters is that you follow the markets and can explain an idea clearly.

Do I need trading experience?

You don’t need a job in finance. You do need to show that you follow the markets yourself, and the trade idea is how you show it.

Can I study at the same time?

Only if your timetable keeps weekdays from 14:00 to 23:00 Sofia time free. This is a full-time job.

Why these hours?

The US stock market is usually open from 16:30 to 23:00 Sofia time. We start earlier to prepare for the open. Your mornings are your own.

Can I work fully remotely?

Yes, from anywhere in the European Union. You are also welcome at our Sofia office.

Is the move to Junior automatic?

Yes, if we both want to carry on after the first year. There is no exam and no re-application.

Is it paid? Do I have to pay or deposit anything?

It is a salaried job from day one. You will never be asked to pay a fee, make a deposit or buy a course.

Which tools will I use?

TradingView, our brokers’ platforms, our in-house tools and AI assistants. You don’t need Bloomberg experience. If you can write a little Python or Pine Script, or want to learn, you will enjoy it here.
